The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Drug and Alcohol Action Team is responsible for the delivery of the national drug strategy and covers the whole of Cornwall and Isles of Scilly. The Drug and Alcohol Action Team works with Service Providers and other key local and regional agencies by commissioning services, supporting partnerships and providing information.

Devon and Cornwall Constabulary is actively involved in schemes throughout the city which aim to break the link between drugs and offending by offering treatment to enable users to kick the habit. Drugs workers are attached to custody units to offer advice, information and referral to treatment services.

Devon DAT is a partnership between local agencies represented by Senior Officers from Health, Social Services, Education, the Police, Probation and Prison Services. The DAT is supported by the Government Office Drugs and Crime Team and the National Treatment Agency, in planning and commissioning the services required across Devon, to meet the National Strategy Targets.

RELEASE provides a range of services dedicated to meeting the health, welfare and legal needs of drugs users and those who live and work with them.

The Public Health Observatory is part of the wider public health programme and forms the public health programme of the SW Observatory. It is based in Bristol, in the Avon Health Authority, with a Director, Health Information Specialists and administrative support providing a high level of management and epidemiological expertise. It also represents a user-friendly point of access. The substance of the Public Health Observatory will be in a network of collaborators. Members of the network feed in the work they are doing to the co-ordinating unit. They also use other outputs of the Observatory, contribute to the work programme and collaborate with other members of the network.

Formed on 1 July 2006, the new organisation replaces the three old Strategic Health Authorities (Avon, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire; Dorset and Somerset; and the South West Peninsula).
