Devon & Cornwall Constabulary are committed to reducing drug-related offending and disorder, by adopting a robust position towards such behaviour. Specific measures include educational work with young people, the Prolific Offenders Unit and the Drug and Alcohol Arrest Referral Services, and actively encouraging communication with our licensees across the BCU.

Government Office South West
The problems of drug misuse are complex and require integrated solutions and co-ordinated delivery of services involving education, intelligence and enforcement, social and economic policy, and health.
Tackling drugs requires effective joint working between Government Departments at national level and similar partnership working between agencies at local level.
Drug Teams in the Government Offices (formerly DPAS) monitor the effectiveness of local delivery by Drug and Alcohol Action Teams (DAATs) through support and advice to ensure consistency of approach and high quality provision.

Supporting People
"Working in partnership to to provide housing support to vulnerable people - preventing homelessness, promoting independence, and rebuilding lives."
On 1st April 2003 the Supporting People programme was launched. Supporting people provide support services to a wide range of vulnerable people and the programme is committed to ensuring that vulnerable people have the opportunity to live more independently.
Within Plymouth the Supporting People programme currently enables over 4000 vulnerable people to live their own lives in the community, with support from over 65 service providers.
